How to Change Your Domain Name SSL Certificate with WebSocle

If you have changed your domain name and/or need to replace your existing SSL certificate, the process is almost identical to installing a new SSL certificate. The main difference is that you do not need to purchase a new SSL certificate, you only need to generate a new CSR using the details of your new domain name.

Step 1: Generate a New CSR for Your New Domain

Before your SSL certificate can be replaced, you must create a new Certificate Signing Request (CSR).

When generating the new CSR, do not use the information associated with your previous domain name. Instead, enter the details of the new domain that will be secured by the replacement SSL certificate.

This is an important step because SSL certificates are issued specifically for the domain name listed in the CSR. If the old domain details are used, the replacement certificate will not be issued for your new domain.

Step 2: Replace Your SSL Certificate

Once your new CSR has been generated using your new domain information, you can proceed with the SSL certificate replacement process.

The remaining steps are identical to replacing an SSL certificate using a new CSR.

To complete the replacement, please follow our detailed guide:
