SSL Certificate Validity Period Changes and Industry Requirements

HomepageNews from UsSSL Certificate Validity Period Changes and In...
25 Oct 2026

The SSL/TLS industry has adopted new certificate validity requirements that shorten the maximum lifespan of publicly trusted SSL certificates.

As of March 15, 2026, newly issued SSL certificates are limited to a maximum validity period of 200 days (approximately 6.5 months). Additional reductions are scheduled in the coming years as part of an industry-wide initiative to improve internet security.

As a result, website owners will need to renew or reissue their SSL certificates more frequently than in the past.

If your SSL certificate is approaching its expiration date, you may be required to generate a new CSR (Certificate Signing Request) and complete the certificate reissuance or renewal process with your certificate provider to maintain uninterrupted SSL protection for your website.

We strongly recommend monitoring your certificate expiration dates and taking action before your certificate expires to avoid browser security warnings, service interruptions, or loss of visitor trust.

For customers using WebSocle hosting services, detailed SSL certificate management guides are available through our Knowledge Base.

If you require assistance with generating a CSR, renewing an SSL certificate, or replacing an existing certificate, our support team will be happy to assist you.
